The foundation work was completed this week. The car park will be closed this Saturday morning as 2 lorry loads of steel are arriving and the construction of the steel structure to hold the canopy will also start this Saturday and should be completed in 17-20 days.
The car park is being shut on health and safety grounds as steel beams will be offloaded from the lorries and forklifts will be in use. We will re-open the car park as soon as this is complete which hopefully will be around lunchtime on Saturday. The padel courts will therefore be laid in 3 weeks time and there will be fencing, electric gates, lighting, software and re-lining of car park to be completed. We anticipate opening sometime in May.
We are currently discussing charging rates, booking, training and coaching rules and will notify the members within the next 4 weeks. We are basing it on what works elsewhere and what we consider is particular to Newlands and its membership.
