Club Update - Friday 16th September

Energy costs

The committee are very aware and concerned about the rising cost of energy as our bills so far have increased by £30,000. We are therefore looking at ways to close this deficit and to reduce our energy costs and output. In the meantime please help us in a small way by ensuring the outside tennis court lights are turned off after you leave the court and that the squash court lights are switched off after playing.

Events

We are holding a Casino Night on Saturday 29th October 8pm Tickets are £15 pp which includes starting chips. Please contact Marion Sloan on 07796 008689 to book and buy your tickets This will be a popular event so early booking is recommended!

Our regular Quiz Night is back on Friday 30th September - tickets are £2pp with a max table of 6. Please sign up at reception.

The Comedy Night has been postponed until next year.

Our new chairs have arrived at last and have smartened up the bar even more!

Look out for our new partner String Sports whose merchandise will be displayed and on sale at the Club in the next few weeks. More details to follow!

Padel update

The Club has planning permission and funding in place to build 2 Padel tennis courts. However we have had many revised drawings re foundations, heights and drainage before we can submit our building warrant. This has caused a long delay. We hope that these matters will be resolved within the next 2 weeks. On receipt of the building warrant we will then be in a position to give a start and finish date for the project. Please bear with us!

Grounds/Clubhouse

Again I’d like to thank our volunteers for the power of work they do outside and inside the Clubhouse. It’s a never ending job and they save the Club so much money by attacking any job. The last one was re laying dangerous slabs outside the gym - a back breaking task but a fantastic result! Also you can see volunteers painting, gardening, changing lightbulbs, planting tubs, attending to IT issues, joinery, electrical, tv and plumbing repairs to name just a few!!

If you have any time or skills to offer to help it would be greatly appreciated especially with IT and social media!

The MyCourts booking kiosk in reception is up and running again which will allow you to book a tennis or squash court or even just check what court you have booked. All you will need is your MyCourts pin number.

Just a reminder that the Club will be open on Monday 19th September to allow our members the choice of how they wish to remember and respect the sad loss of Queen Elizabeth II. It also enables our independent partners at the Club such as our physio, fitness trainers, business office and Tennis West office to operate if they wish.

Kind regards,

Shirley
