It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ken McCready.
Ken was a Past President of the Club in 1963 and he won the squash championships at the Club in 1980 and 1981.
He is best remembered as being a first class tennis player and was part of the winning Scottish Cup team in 1962 and 1963.
He also won the First Division championships (now called the Premier Division) with Newlands in 1958, 1959 and 1960. to name just a few of his many achievements. Ken captained the West of Scotland team in 1988 and 1993.
Although away with work for many years before returning to the Club he always kept a keen interest in the Club and had many lifelong friends at Newlands.
He enjoyed the social side of the Club and always had a twinkle in his eye! He will be missed by all who knew him.
Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time .
