New Squash & Racketball Head Coach

Newlands are delighted to welcome Matt Bedwell as the new Squash and Racketball head coach at Newlands from 1st October 2021.
Squash
Matt is a young and enthusiastic level 2 coach and was coached as a junior by Nathan Lake (world ranking 44). He came to Glasgow in 2014 and has played for Strathclyde University, Newlands, Whitecraigs and Hamilton. He took up coaching at Strathclyde University and was instrumental in setting up their National league team as well as organising group and individual coaching. Matt has been with Hamilton Squash Club since 2018 and developed a junior section from scratch as well group and individual sessions.
Racketball
Matt reached the 2021 UK racketball men’s semi final and so is a very accomplished racketball player.
We believe Matt will be a great addition to the Club with an emphasis on developing junior participation and events. He will be introducing himself at the junior sessions and the Club night before taking up his position on the 1st October.
The Club would like to thank Mark Ford, Fraser McCann and Alan Susskind for all their hard work and effort especially over the last couple of years!
