Grounds and Club Maintenance

Please note that we try to schedule court and building maintenance on a weekly basis each Tuesday morning. This work is carried out by a small band of member volunteers and includes picking up discarded tennis balls and rubbish, clearing leaf fall, fixing nets, re-attaching tennis wind breaks, clearing gutters, sorting out internal storage cupboards, repairing pot holes in the car park, replacing lightbulbs etc. You name it, and our wee team will turn their hand to it!

Obviously as this is a voluntary team, we need to work on a day that suits those who give up their personal time to help. Unfortunately it can be difficult to cover the work required while members and coaches are on court and I understand that it can be distracting having this work going on around you if you are playing on this particular day. We did think of booking out the courts for the required maintenance but I am reluctant to do this as it would take away court time from both coaches and members. We will only go down this route when major work is required on a court.

Please accept my apologies in advance if you see me and others walking around the edges of the courts while you are playing. We will try our best to not get in the way and will even accept the risk of being hit by a 24 mph tennis ball being misshit in our direction! As you can imagine, we only have a finite period of time to do this work on a Tuesday so if the courts are busy it can be difficult not to accidentally get in the way.

Your ongoing support in this is much appreciated. Feel free to give the grounds team a wave even if you are losing!

Thanks again for your cooperation.

Regards,

Richard Pearson
